This may not mean anything to you, so feel free to completely ignore this. For the month of August, I'm doing this thing called Visio Divina where you examine and meditate on an image with the intent of finding God in it. Today I looked at this picture. If you're interested, the journal entry it inspired is below:

Life. Or is it transformation? From around the edges of the painting, faces frozen in wood look on with wide eyes. Her legs and neck are covered in what appears to be
the wood the faces are made out of. Is she becoming like them, or is she breaking free? Her body is askance, a series of strange and unnatural angles. A far cry from
the rigid and defined form of the faces that surround her.

Maybe the question we should ask, is "Where is God in this?" If we believe he is everywhere, then we have to be open to the possibility that he is anywhere.

The sky behind them is bright and warm. Like a sunset. The wood is cool blue, and she is no different. This moment in time depicts either her liberation, or her
capture. She is either coming to life, relishing the strange sensation of her body and its movements; or she is grieving their loss as she moves forward into
petrification. Loss and transformation. One could cycle between those two stages indefinitely. Our only saving grace, is where there's an end... There has to be a
beginning.
